Underwater Hockey
Underwater hockey is a very fast moving game that quickly builds swimming and
free diving capability. It is played on the bottom of a swimming pool by two
teams of six. Players wear fins, mask, snorkel, and a protective glove and
headgear. The stick is short, approximately 1 foot long, the puck is heavy,
around 3 lb., and the goal is 3 meters (9’) long.
Underwater Rugby
Underwater Rugby is a popular sport in Europe and is played regularly in the
United States. The sport participates at the World level, and the next World
Championships are scheduled for 2009 in Germany. Underwater Rugby is a three
dimensional underwater sport. There are 15 players on a team: six in the water
with five ‘exchange’ (substitute) players and four reserves. The reserve players
cannot play in a game already started with 11 players.
