The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary has been very responsive to the
concerns of recreational divers. We urge you to become involved in the Diver
Partnership Program.
The Pacific Grove and Monterey areas frequently have water pollution
problems. Pacific Grove is chasing the symptoms of the problems but is not doing
anything about the root cause, an antiquated sewage system, because of the costs
involved. Consequently, the pollution problems in the area are going to continue
indefinitely. Prior to traveling to the area or going into the water it is a
good idea to contact the Monterey County Health Department's Beach Condition
Hotline for beach closure and advisory information at:
1-800-347-6363 or visit http://www.co.monterey.ca.us/health/beaches/
This page will be developed further at a later date.
